As opportunities to interact with peers increase in kindergarten, aggressive outbursts among peers in social interactions are commonly observed. Research showed that children who experience aggression may experience high levels of psychological distress. Aggressive children also tend to show low levels of prosocial behavior and experience high levels of peer rejection. In this presentation, different forms of aggression (e.g., overt aggression and relational aggression) will be introduced. The speaker will also focus on strategies that adults (e.g., teachers and parents) may employ to intervene for reducing aggression and promote children’s prosocial behaviours.
